You don't need any specific team builds for either.
Basic balanced builds work fine.
You do need a good team and someone who knows the area and quests very well to guide you through it.

I concur. You only fail either if you anger a very large mob. Otherwise, a fundamental and balanced team is more than enough to clear either.
A super generic setup:
1) Frontline (Warrior)
2) Frontline (Warrior)
3) Nuker (Elementalist)
4) Nuker (Elementalist)
5) Nuker (Elementalist)
6) Nuker (Elementalist)
7) Prot (Monk)
8) Healer (Monk)
If you're smart, this setup will pretty much clear the FoW in just over two hours, depending on how well you know the area and how well you play.
Edit: In your case, if you don't want to put much thought into it, you already have three "nukers." The ranger can play barrage, the elementalist can play fire or earth something and the necromancer can play spiteful spirit.

Don't underestimate blind. Blind can negate more damage from Physical Damage dealers than monks can only dream of. I run a Blind > Epidemic Ele through places like FoW and Underworld. In the Underworld, blind is especially useful because of the high damage from the Aaxtes. Especially with Eye of the North out now Blinding Flash/Blinding Surge + Shell Shock + Epidemic = win in my book.

Me and one guildmate did a HM FoW run in 3 hours with
Me(Cripslash conjure war)
He(SS Necro)
2xWoR N/Rt Healers + Jagged MM(Sab's builds)
B Bot Ele GvG build we just dropped LOrb
Power Block Mesmer
LoD Hybrid
The bad thing was that some kind of but happened and we didint get any drops from unlocked chests in the whole area and as far as i remember they used to drop stuff....
We will try UW soon with the same build.

That's part of being balanced. On a setup like the one that I listed above, I'd bring anti-melee wherever I could fit it. Ward of Melee, Aegis, Throw Dirt, anti-melee hexes, the whole shebang. Of course, the other trick is aggroing so that aatxes and abyssals don't just run past your frontliners and start whacking the squishy parts of your team.
